Letters to Characters
at Civic Center Library
Letters to Characters at Civic Center Library is a program available to children of all ages. On bi-weekly basis we have an opportunity for children to write a letter to a character (list of characters below, past and upcoming). The following week you can pick up a personal reply from the character at our information desk. Each personalized reply also comes with a special gift from that character (button, stickers, coloring sheets etc.).
*During the summer months, the frequency increases to weekly.
This is a great program to promote literacy skills. Letter writing is a great way for children to learn personal expression, along with practicing foundational written grammar conventions and sentence fluency. Characters are chosen based on popularity and library collection (available books).
If you have a suggestion for a character, feel free to email us at EmailLibrary@avondaleaz.gov.
